Middle School Counselors

Middle School students face increased pressure regarding alcohol and drugs, while exploring the boundaries of more acceptable behavior and mature decision making. The most important influence on the student is their family as they search for a place to belong and rely on parents and peers for acceptance and feedback.

Counselors hold a master’s degree and required state certification in school counseling, and must attend on-going professional development to stay current with educational reform. Counselors provide guidance lessons on college and careers, as well as thoughtful lessons on current behaviors, how to make friends and treat others with respect. Lessons are usually done in small groups.
